My approach to counselling

Having been a counselling client myself I know how important it is to feel comfortable and relaxed with a counsellor, and therefore this approach forms the essence of my sessions. I describe the work that I do as being client led, in other words you bring to sessions the issues you wish to work on, and I support you on your journey towards understanding yourself better. We can look at negative thoughts, emotions and behaviours that maybe holding you back, and hopefully you will get to a place where you will feel stronger, clearer and more in touch with the ‘real you’.  Ultimately the therapeutic relationship between client and counsellor is what matters most in counselling, and can have the most positive affect on your journey.

As a Person-centred counsellor I realise and recognise the human potential in everyone, and in turn how counselling can have the incredible potential to facilitate change. I treat clients with empathy, unconditionally and without judgement. I can also draw on techniques and concepts from other theories to support you on your journey, which will be dependent on your needs.

I have experience working with clients on a wide range of issues such as family relationships, abusive relationships, patterns of relating, depression, anxiety, substance and alcohol issues, suicidal ideation.

I offer a free initial phone-call for clients so we can have a chat, and you can decide if you feel I am the right ‘fit’ for you as your counsellor. There is no set amount of sessions we can have together, instead it is based on your needs.

I offer counselling from my farm in North Devon either by Walk and Talk therapy, Face to Face, Zoom or Telephone.
