Grey Area Drinking

I am 3 years sober and have been a grey area drinker since my early 20’s.  In September 2022 I stopped drinking – this has been one of the best decisions I ever made.

The best thing about being sober is that I don’t look back on the time that I stopped with sadness and regret and wishing I could have another drink but instead I look at all the positive things that have happened in my life since and everything that I have gained.  My confidence has increased (I actually think I’m quite funny sometimes!), my anxiety has disappeared and finally I feel I have found the Authentic me who was hidden for so many years under the veil of alcohol.

The best thing about sobriety is that it just keeps giving.  It doesn’t matter how many years (months) I have been sober for I keep experiencing little nuggets of happiness I didn’t know existed.  Life is for living, not existing.

Since stopping drinking I have learnt to love myself more.  I practise yoga everyday and feel so much more connected to the spiritual side of myself, I sleep better and I am so much calmer.

Self-care techniques.  I’ve learnt a lot about how alcohol affects us physically and mentally but also how it wasn’t my fault that I drank.

I read lots of quit lit and listened to lots of podcasts

The one thing that was missing for me was connection – got this in March 2020 when I joined the Sober club and this gave me such strength as I didn’t feel I was so alone - I could see that there were plenty of other people going through the same thing who understood how I felt.  There is so much power in connection.

Because of the journey I’ve been on and all the things I have learnt along the way I can help you to get to a place where you feel happy in your sobriety and you feel you have also found your Authentic You.

I know how hard it can be to stop drinking, especially alone with no support.  I will work with you to guide you on this journey and support you to overcome any obstacles on the way.

What I offer: My sober-coaching is client-centred.  I will support you through the journey of sobriety to help you find the Authentic you again.  Each client is an individual so I don’t have one fixed way of working with clients, however I do have a deep metaphorical box of sobriety tools and techniques to help support you on your journey.
